JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Teacher

Reports To: Building principal or other administrator designated by the Superintendent or Board of Education

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

• Valid Missouri teaching certificate in the appropriate grade level or subject area, or eligibility to obtain appropriate certification

• Knowledge of effective instructional practices, classroom management, and student assessment

• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and the community

• Ability to meet the physical and professional requirements of the position

• Prior teaching experience preferred but not required

• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Meet and instruct assigned classes at the designated times and locations.

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.

• Establish clear learning objectives and communicate expectations to students.

• Create a safe, respectful, inclusive, and productive classroom environment.

• Use a variety of instructional strategies, materials, technology, and resources to support student learning.

• Assess student learning using multiple measures and use the results to guide instruction.

• Maintain accurate student records and submit required reports and documentation in a timely manner.

• Establish and consistently enforce fair and appropriate classroom expectations and procedures.

• Communicate regularly and professionally with students, parents and guardians, staff, and community members.

• Provide timely feedback regarding student progress, achievement, and areas of concern.

• Implement Individualized Education Programs, Section 504 plans, Individual Health Plans, and other student support plans as applicable.

• Participate as a member of IEP, Section 504, and other student assistance teams when requested.

• Take reasonable precautions to protect students, staff, equipment, materials, and district facilities.

• Follow all laws, Board policies, administrative procedures, and building expectations.

• Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, harassment, or other safety concerns as required by law and Board policy.

• Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials for substitute teachers.

• Plan and supervise assignments for paraprofessionals, student teachers, and volunteers assigned to the classroom.

• Maintain current knowledge of instructional practices and content standards.

• Participate in required professional development, faculty meetings, committees, and school activities.

• Support the district’s mission, goals, curriculum, and instructional priorities.

• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional conduct at all times.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal, Superintendent, or designee.

Terms of Employment

Salary, work schedule, and length of employment will be established by the Board of Education in accordance with the applicable certified salary schedule, Board policy, and individual employment contract.

Employment is contingent upon verification of appropriate certification and successful completion of all district employment requirements, including required background checks.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with applicable Missouri law and the Board of Education’s policies and procedures for the evaluation of professional personnel.
