JOB TITLE: 

Library Assistant

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

REPORTS TO:

Librarian and Library Coordinator

 

JOB GOAL:

To substantially assist the librarian in reaching his or her job goal by assuming the following performance responsibilities:

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Schedule use of library facilities by groups or individuals.
  2. Perform circulation duties, such as, but not limited to, checking materials in and out and shelving materials.
  3. Prepare call labels, purchase orders, work orders, announcements, informational lists, and correspondence as directed.
  4. Supervise library patrons.
  5. Assist library patrons in the use of all on-line and print resources, card catalogs, CD-Rom programs and the Internet.
  6. Answer telephone and direct calls to proper staff members.
  7. Produce and maintain library bulletin boards and displays as directed.
  8. Catalog, inventory, circulate and schedule repairs for all AV equipment.
  9. Maintain, program, and tape satellite programs as requested.
  10. Repair print materials as needed.
  11. Load and maintain machines, such as laminator, photocopier, and microfilm reader/printers.
  12. Process all incoming mail, as directed, including magazines and newspapers.
  13. Assume such other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrative personnel.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary, work day and year to be established by the Board of Education.

 

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
