JOB TITLE:
Library Assistant
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree or a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college.
- Basic computer and word processing skills.
- Willingness to pursue additional training as required.
- Good communication and public relations skills.
- Such alternative or additional qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate or acceptable.

Librarian and Library Coordinator
JOB GOAL:
To substantially assist the librarian in reaching his or her job goal by assuming the following performance responsibilities:
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule use of library facilities by groups or individuals.
- Perform circulation duties, such as, but not limited to, checking materials in and out and shelving materials.
- Prepare call labels, purchase orders, work orders, announcements, informational lists, and correspondence as directed.
- Supervise library patrons.
- Assist library patrons in the use of all on-line and print resources, card catalogs, CD-Rom programs and the Internet.
- Answer telephone and direct calls to proper staff members.
- Produce and maintain library bulletin boards and displays as directed.
- Catalog, inventory, circulate and schedule repairs for all AV equipment.
- Maintain, program, and tape satellite programs as requested.
- Repair print materials as needed.
- Load and maintain machines, such as laminator, photocopier, and microfilm reader/printers.
- Process all incoming mail, as directed, including magazines and newspapers.
- Assume such other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrative personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary, work day and year to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel. |
