JOB TITLE:
Director of Technology
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrate sufficient knowledge and skill needed to maintain and manage a multi-software computer network in an educational environment.
- Previous leadership experience in the management of technology systems.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- The ability to provide instruction and training in the use of technology.
- Demonstrate a willingness to pursue additional training as needed.
- Certification as a Novell Network Technician, or ability to obtain such.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate.
REPORTS TO:
Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent
SUPERVISION DUTIES:
Office workers and technology personnel.
JOB GOAL:
To provide students and staff with the opportunity and knowledge that will enable them to utilize available technology systems, equipment and software in an efficient and effective manner in order to enhance the teaching learning process.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain district-wide network.
- Update software on network servers and individual computers as needed.
- Provide training for faculty and staff.
- Coordinate services with outside vendors.
- Maintain modem bank for off-campus network access.
- Advise administration on system upgrades, hardware and software purchases.
- Maintain individual computer labs.
- Keep abreast of the latest hardware and software technology.
- Provide input in the technology budget process.
- Perform minor hardware repair and replenish non-durable supplies.
- Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for systems and hardware.
- Attend conferences and training seminars as needed.
- Develop and submit grant proposals for technology funding.
- Develop hardware and software specifications for bid proposals.
- Assume such other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrative personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary, work day, and year to be established by the Board of Education. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel. |
